MEXNC:

Choose your download according to your version of MATLAB. If you don't see your operating system platform listed, it means I haven't gotten around to compiling it yet. You can determine your version of matlab by starting up matlab and executing the command

    >> version('-release') 

Windows users, listen up. These mex-files have been compiled agains a snapshot version of netcdf 3.6.2. It WILL NOT WORK with any previous version of the netcdf.dll, so you need to make sure that you install the new netcdf.dll file correctly (it's in the mexnc/win32 directory).

And finally, these mex-files are not compiled with OPeNDAP support. If you want that, you have two options. You can compile it yourself, or you can just use SNCTOOLS, which can optionally use java instead of the mex-file for OPeNDAP. Go to the OPeNDAP page | on this site for details.

  Warning: the win64 mex-file seems a little bit unstable with the netcdf-2 interface, but netcdf-3 is fine. This means that you're golden with SNCTOOLS, but out of luck with the netcdf toolbox.

M-file Toolboxes

You have two choices here.

• SNCTOOLS: A set of very simple yet powerful m-files. I think they are great, but I'm biased because I wrote them. So there, full disclosure.
• NetCDF Toolbox is also available, but is completely unsupported. You can read some very old documentation for the netCDF toolbox here. The netCDF Toolbox was written by Chuck Denham.
